MM: I have been riding since before I could walk. I didn’t always think I wanted to train horses as a profession but life has a funny way of working out. I declared as a professional rider in 2014 and started my own business MMDresage training and showing. My top show horse right now is Felissimo aka Snuffy.
C+L: Can you tell us a little more about the type of riding that you do?
MM: Dressage is like ballet for horses, the goal is to teach them commands using the slightest ques. The movements we train them start off easy, and get harder and harder as you get to the highest level. I train each horse five days a week and do varying exercise regimes to help them achieve their competition goals!
C+L: Can you tell us a little bit more about Snuffy?? (He's my favorite, ever)
MM: Snuffy was imported from Germany when he was four years old he is now 11. I acquired Snuffy after he sustained an injury. His prognosis to returning to a high level Dressage wasn’t super. I took a chance on him and he has never let me down. This past summer we made our debut at the highest level of Dressage, Grand Prix and hope to show it all next season. He is my best bud and has a very high strong, high maintenance diva personality.
C+L: What are your ultimate goals in the world of dressage?
MM: I have had the chance to do a few internationally ranked shows and its made me realize even more that I want to represent the glorious USA in the Olympics someday. I have a few exciting young horses I am working on developing, and working towards this goal. Above all my goal is to train happy upper level dressage horses.
C+L: What are your favorite Chloe + Lois Pieces?
MM: The Starry Night Necklace! I love it because its casual enough for everyday and fancy enough for dinner. It's a perfect weight so the clasp never slides in front and it always stays put!
